KUSHIRIKI COOK BOOK
You may know that the church in Tunguli, in our link diocese of Morogoro, Tanzania, has been destroyed by floods. The cost to rebuild the church is estimated to be £17,000.
To help with this, and with other Mission Morogoro projects, such as provision of clean water, and of equipment for Tunguli’s hospital and school, we are planning a project to publish a recipe book to raise funds.
The book will be called ‘Kushiriki: Recipes for Sharing’. Kushiriki is Swahili for ‘Share’.
We are asking for recipes inspired by families, friends and communities joining together to share food and create special memories.
Categories for recipes are: Al fresco; Coffee Mornings & Afternoon Teas; Celebrations; and Pot Luck Suppers (one-pot dishes.)
If you have a well-loved recipe for a starter, main, side dish, dessert, or a drink which fits any of the above categories, we would love to hear from you.
Please look for the recipe form by clicking here.
Or ask Angela, Melissa or Rosie for help if you find the form difficult or if you would rather have the form emailed to you.
Please note that it may not be possible for us to include all the recipes we receive, but all will be very much appreciated. Thank you!
For anyone wanting to explore the bible and the meaning of life, I would highly recommend the Bishops Certificate course. You will undertake a journey through the centuries and the history of the bible. Your course leaders will lead you in debating, discussing, all aspects of the bible and there is ample opportunity to explore and reflect as you learn, with – and from – others on the course. You will also have the opportunity to join quiet days at Holland House.
I would strongly encourage anyone who is considering doing the course to take that ‘leap of faith’. It can feel challenging, but at the same time it is so rewarding. One of the many highlights was the visit to the synagogue in Birmingham. The whole group could have stayed all night listening to our very knowledgeable host. The next course will commence at the beginning of October. Talk to Barbara Wheatley (Course Co-ordinator) for the details (01527 892969) or contact me, Cathy Stokes (01527 577069) – I am more than happy to share my experience.
Go on, I know you’re thinking about it – go for it!
